Our Team of Tutors

Michelle Jones
Michelle (Test Prep Tutor) has a degree in mathematics from Yale University and is based in Cambridge, MA. She has been tutoring for around 8 years and loves helping students build confidence in their abilities. She also has several years of experience as a youth climbing team coach. In her spare time, she likes to travel by train, climb, ski, bike, and otherwise spend time outdoors.

Rebekah Durham
Rebekah (Test Prep Tutor) holds a Biochemistry degree from the University of Washington and lives near Seattle with her husband, cat, and a jungle of hydroponic veggies. She has spent years helping teens prepare for the SAT, ACT, and other college entrance exams—focusing on each student’s strengths to build smart, personalized strategies. Her calm, encouraging style makes test prep feel doable (even kind of fun). When she's not tutoring, Rebekah volunteers for her community and dabbles in artisanal soaps and lotions—recycling rendered lard from her family's red wattle pig farm.

Nico Taylor
Nico (Executive Tutor) graduated from Yale College (B.A. Humanities) and now lives in New York City. He’s been teaching and tutoring since 2014, in between stints in finance and editing. Getting to know his students is the highlight of his work. When he’s not tutoring, he’s performing sketch and stand-up comedy.

Joe Ferruzzo
Joe (Case Review Manager / Executive Tutor) has been tutoring ACT and SAT students and helping them get into their dream schools since 2007, after receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and his Master's Degree from the University of Southern California on a full scholarship. When he's not tutoring, he is a professional trumpeter, composer, and arranger in Los Angeles. He's performed and recorded nationwide with artists such as Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire, Andrea Bocelli, as well as with composers like John Williams and Maria Schneider.

Alice Rothman-Hicks-Profitt
Alice (Senior Test Prep Tutor) has been teaching and tutoring since 2010, helping students to prepare for and excel in various standardized tests. She has spent thousands of hours tutoring the ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, TACHS, HSPT, and GRE, among others, with consistently excellent results. She is equally experienced as a coursework tutor, helping students to thrive in every subject from philosophy to trigonometry to Spanish, and she has helped many students gain acceptance to their top-choice colleges by supporting them through the college essay process. Alice prioritizes individualized attention, support, and care as a tutor: she always hopes to build from what her students already know, and she fills each session with gentle encouragement and genuine positivity so that her students will become confident in their own abilities. In her spare time, she loves taking long walks around New York's green areas, reading at home while cuddling with her cat, and writing/rehearsing/recording music with her husband in their home studio!

Olivia Strebe
Olivia (Senior Test Prep Tutor) holds a Master’s from Northwestern in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has been tutoring since 2016. She has a person-centered tutoring style and enjoys adapting her teaching to fit her students’ needs. She currently lives in Los Angeles, where she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and going to the beach. On the rare days when the weather doesn’t cooperate, she loves to read, bake, and write.

Jon Cornfield
Jon is also Thirty-Six's Director of Program Management. He is a veteran educator, having taught math, science, and test preparation since 2005. He holds a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Colgate as well as a Master's in Business Analytics from Syracuse. In addition to tutoring, Jon's resume includes curriculum design, authorship of retail books for Kaplan, instructional design for corporate learning programs, and data analytics for a hotel company. Jon lives near Philadelphia and enjoys all aspects of the outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking, and paddle boarding. He is an avid traveler, and his tutoring backdrop will change often as he visits new places.

Vivian Caine
Vivian (Test Prep Tutor) is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned degrees in Philosophy and English. She grew up in Connecticut and currently resides just outside of Detroit. Vivian has experience working with students across a wide range of ages, from kindergarten classrooms to serving as a university instructional assistant for a computational linguistics course. She especially enjoys helping students feel more confident in math and easing anxiety around it—something she understands personally, as she once feared math herself before taking Discrete Math at Michigan and learning to love the logic and puzzle-solving aspect of it. In her spare time, Vivian enjoys painting, woodworking, film photography, and (though she’ll admit she’s still pretty bad at it) ice-skating.
