about
Trey Billings is a graduate of Cornell University with distinction in all subjects, and a former manager of the Cognition and Development Lab at Yale University. Trey started tutoring students in 2001 while working on evaluation and research for the New Haven Public Schools. In 2004, he founded Freudigman & Billings with his wife, Elisa, and his business partner, Kim Freudigman, Ph.D. Thirty-Six is the third education company he has started with a former tutor from F&B. Trey was formerly a Managing Partner in TutorTrove (a company which provides management tools and online tutoring software for tutoring firms) and is currently a founding investor and senior advisor for Desmos (which has developed amazing tools for math and science including the best online graphing calculator on the planet). He plays squash on the weekends and lives with his wife, Elisa, and daughters, Claire and Natalie, in an old house near Yale.

fun facts about trey
- Has gut-renovated each of the three houses he's lived in as an adult. He did all the plumbing in the first house by himself, including fluxing and soldering with a blowtorch.
- Works as a part-time, unpaid assistant for his wife's interior design company. As a result, he's learned more about brushed nickel and unlacquered brass finishes than he ever could have imagined.
- Studied 3 languages in high school, including Latin and ancient Greek.
- Was historically an early adapter of technology—had a two-way pager, a Palm Treo, and the first iPhone on the day it was released. But he won't let his middle-school daughter own a phone yet.
- Has the kind of children who shovel the driveway on a snow day...without being asked.
